The Community Project 2020

We believe that a process can be designed to enable the poor and homeless individuals to obtain adequate living accommodations and employment. Therefore, The Community Project aims to develop a systematic process that assists them to obtain and maintain meaningful employment and an affordable, attractive home.

RESEARCH
Studies researched by leading Universities and many communities in the USA indicate residents have long term success when there is community involvement, support and they have income that pays for their home. It is important that the residents have a sense of personal control. The design of the living space helps to provide confidence that leads to a stable life.

OBJECTIVE

  1. It is our intention to recruit homeless people interested in acquiring a home, then do a background check and vulnerability index on the people interested in acquiring a home. The 30 applicants most likely to get a loan for a home will be presented to the bank.
  2. Locate a community that has an interest in helping the homeless and will give some financial aid and help identify suitable land for a subdivision. The goal is financial aid and individual donations of 50% of the land and development cost.
  3. Apply for a bank loan for the land, development of the property and the community center.

Each resident will pay the rent for their lot and a share in the community expenses and they will need to get a bank loan for their home.

The location has yet to be determined, but the cost of land for a subdivision and community support will have a major influence on the location. The location will be in the Pensacola metropolitan area.
